I am 27 years old and live in McKinney, Texas.
God and family are very important to me.
I graduated with honors in 2005 from McKinney North High School. Two weeks later, I was unfortunately in a serious car crash which left me paralyzed from the chest down. The impact of the crash caused my neck to break at my C6 vertebrae and my spinal cord to bruise. As a result, I am quadriplegic and have spinal cord injury. Despite the circumstances, I still have a heart and soul that enjoys life. I have been shown all that life offers and have been given a new sense of appreciation. I am incredibly grateful for the amazing, supportive, and willing family that God has blessed me with. They go above and beyond every day and in everything they do. And after all that we have been through, my boyfriend Billy still wants to be with me.
God's grace is amazingly abundant.
God has blessed me with a second chance at life and I am determined to not let Him down. Through the past nine years, I have learned a lot and grown in unspeakable ways. I have learned that everything I have been given is a blessing. I have learned that the abilities to see, smell, breathe, speak, taste, eat, hear, move, and feel deserve praise. As I laid in the hospital bed with only one ability - the ability to see - I for once was able to stop being so selfish and realize how blessed I was. I unfortunately never realized it before then but it was what I needed. I had been living life without God and not giving Him any recognition. What I have learned above all else is who my God is. He is there and has been there for me since the beginning. He is my Creator. He is my provider and protector. He loves me more than I could possibly imagine.
And He will see me through this.
I have many interests but above all, I enjoy learning, helping others, sharing my story, and being used by God. My experiences these last nine years have influenced me to volunteer with several amazing organizations as well as pursue a social work degree. I began my pursuit in 2006 through Collin College, attending half-time, and obtained an Associate of Arts degree with emphasis in Liberal Arts in May of 2011. Upon graduating, I transferred to the University of North Texas in the Bachelor of Social Work degree program and absolutely love it. Both Collin College and UNT are really great schools with phenomenal leadership, professors, and school spirit. My ultimate goal is to obtain a Master of Social Work degree and work with teens, the elderly, or individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
Shortly after my car crash, God began leading me to not just share my story online but also orally. This was a difficult concept for me because public speaking had always been an enormous weakness of mine exhibited by profuse sweating, hot flashes, and stuttering - a complete bewilderment. The summer of 2009 marked a season in my life in which God lifted this weakness from me and transformed it into a strength as He clearly said to me, "I saved you for a purpose and we have a story to share!" It was this transformation and His claim of my life that pushed me to finally begin speaking about my car crash, struggles, and new found faith.
This was my story at a MADD Teen VIP in June 2010.

I love the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Cowboys!
Billy and I had a chance to go to a game in 2006. It was so fun and we had great seats!
Habakkuk 1:5 – “Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”
